Luckily, summertime means more time spent outside. And while soaking up some extra sunshine is a vital part of the season, it’s important to be even more mindful of taking care of your skin, which has a direct effect on your overall well-being. Our experts at AquaVie Spa have quick and easy tips to help you stay safe while catching some rays.

#1: Daily SPF is a Must

Embrace the sunny days with confidence by making sunscreen your best friend. Our top product pick this season is the brand-new Eminence Daily Defense Tinted SPF, which not only shields your skin with broad-spectrum protection but also gives you a radiant, even complexion.

#2: Feeling the Burn? DIY Your Aloe

Aloe vera is a fantastic natural remedy for soothing sunburned skin. Here’s a simple and effective DIY aloe vera recipe to help heal and hydrate your sunburned face:

Ingredients:

  1. 1-2 fresh aloe vera leaves (or 100% pure aloe vera gel if you don’t have fresh leaves)
  2. 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  3. 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil (optional for soothing fragrance and additional healing properties)

Instructions:

  1. If using fresh aloe vera leaves, cut off one or two leaves from the plant.
  2. Cut the edges off the leaves to remove the spiky parts.
  3. Slice the leaves lengthwise to expose the gel inside.
  4. Use a spoon to scrape out the clear gel from inside the leaves.
  5. Place the scraped gel into a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth to get a consistent gel texture.
  6. Blend in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil and blend again.
  7. Store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. When applied in a thin layer, the cool gel will provide extra relief.
